Centre for Intercultural Initiatives is an association established according to Polish law, acting for the benefit of refugees and asylum seekers. We strive to aid the refugees and improve their situation, especially during the crucial early period of their stay in Poland.
We help them adjust to Polish reality, to enter the education system and labour market. We promote tolerance towards different cultures and sensitise the public opinion with respect to the situation of refugees.
We started In 2006 as a student organisation, but quickly outgrew that formula and we currently bring together members of different circles united by the desire to help those in need.
The centre runs an ongoing project aimed at helping children and teens with their studies. We also teach languages. Our volunteers help the children to spend their time in a useful and entertaining way in the club room, study hall and during excursions outside reception centres – to the swimming pool, theatres, museums etc.
We strive to help with individual problems, like finding an interpreter or navigating the bureaucracy.
We also organize regular events presenting the Polish culture to the refugees and their cultures to Polish society.
